Earn Honor Stole Points - 2/23/10

Earn 5 KDP Honor Stole Points for attending: Doing Well While Ding Good: Non-Profit Careers February 23rd @ 5:15 PM Chancellor's Suite, University Center Debunk myths and learn about types of positions in non-profit organizations: Marketing and Public Relations, Event Planning, Development, Consulting, Management, State Government Members must sign the attendance sheet at the beginning of the program and stay in order to count the program for points.

Community Service Opp! Earn Honor Stole Points

The NJ ASK Saturday Program in Glenfield Middle School needs students who can dedicate 3-6 consecutive Saturdays from 8am -12pm. They are given breakfast every morning and they are assigned to reading, writing, or math depending on their strengths. The program consists of sitting with a small group of students for one-on-one help with an individual subject matter. The volunteers will be assigned to a particular teacher and stay there for the day. The class is about 15 minutes of lecturing and then the students break off into small groups to work individually with students based on what the teacher just taught. Earn Honor Stole Service Points!!!

Xi Gamma is a member of the Public Service Month Committee at Seton Hall University. KDP members who attend any of the remaining events this month and sign in will be awarded 5 honor stole programming pts per program. How Can I Become a Xi Gamma Member?

In order to join Kappa Delta Pi-Xi Gamma Chapter, undergraduate students (sophomores, juniors and seniors) enrolled under the College of Education and Human Services are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Graduate students enrolled in the college are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or above. Every spring semester from mid to the end of February, CEHS undergraduate and graduate students meeting the GPA requirement by the previous fall semester are sent an invitation to become members of Kappa Delta Pi - Xi Gamma Chapter.

It is vital that your mailing address is up-to-date with Seton Hall University's Office of Enrollment Services (973-761-9332) as this is the information used to invite candidates to the Annual Kappa Delta Pi Induction Ceremony held in April.

Service Honor Stole (Optional for Graduating Members)

Kappa Delta Pi members who demonstrate service and commitment to the Honor Society goals throughout the year can earn a special stole to wear at graduation. Honor stoles are awarded to graduating members who have satisfied the optional service requirements at the KDP Annual Induction Ceremony held in April.

Ideally, Service Honor Stole activity should be a mixture of service to the chapter, to the profession, and to the community at large. At least 30 points must be accrued per year in order to earn the Service Honor Cord.

There are three ways to earn points:

• Attending meetings/programs/co-sponsored programs: 5 points for each meeting/program attended. Meetings/Programs are very important, as we use these for planning and carrying out chapter goals.

• Serving on KDP committees/attending KDP webinars: 5 points. (i.e. Participating in a fundraiser, Assisting in KDP functions and activities, Attending a KDP conference)

• Volunteer Service: 30 hrs = 15 points. (i.e. Any educationally or community oriented service such as library storytelling, the YMCA, tutoring, SHU Pirate Mentor, SHU 500, Mary Jennings Scholarship fundraiser, etc. )
