Principal Needed!

Saint Peter School seeks a dynamic and creative leader to serve as principal. The successful candidate must possess excellent leadership and communication skills and the enthusiasm for nurturing an outstanding religious, academic and extra-curricular program for its multicultural student body. Qualifications: • A practicing Roman Catholic committed to the development of the Catholic faith in the school. • At least 5 years of successful teaching/administrative experience. • Masters degree, preferably in administration, supervision and/or curriculum. • NJ State Principal Certification, its equivalent or eligibility for this certification. • The ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, pastor and board. • Fluency in Spanish desirable. Lisa Didow Named 2010 Udall Scholar

Newly inducted Xi Gamma member Lisa Didow '11 was recently named a Morris K. Udall Scholar for 2010. Lisa is majoring in Elementary/Special Education and Environmental Studies, and plans to teach middle school science. She joins a class of 80 Udall scholars who were chosen from among 537 candidates representing 256 colleges and universities nationwide. A 14-member independent review committee selected this year's group of Scholars on the basis of commitment to careers in the environment, health care or tribal public policy; leadership potential; and academic achievement. Congratulations!!!

Volunteer Opportunity - CCD Instruction

The Director of Religious Education at St. Theresa's in Kenilworth, Sr. Monique Huart, is looking for responsible, dependable teachers for 2010-2011 CCD classes. CCD classes will be held on Sunday morning, Monday after school and evenings, Tuesday afternoon and alternating evenings and Wednesday evening (6th grade). CCD classes usually run for 45 minutes. Candidates need to report to Jubilee Hall Auditorium by 9:15am to check in, turn in their Initiate Forms (if not done already), and be placed in line for procession. Volunteers Needed - Louverture Career Day

East Orange School District is looking for volunteers to serve as speakers for Louverture Career Day Extravaganza on March 26, 2010 from 9am-12pm. Students attending are from grades 1-5. Volunteers would share with the students the type of work they are doing, what hobbies they have, etc. The goal si to have students become aware of the variety of careers available to them. Community Service Opp! Earn Honor Stole Points

The NJ ASK Saturday Program in Glenfield Middle School needs students who can dedicate 3-6 consecutive Saturdays from 8am -12pm. They are given breakfast every morning and they are assigned to reading, writing, or math depending on their strengths. The program consists of sitting with a small group of students for one-on-one help with an individual subject matter. The volunteers will be assigned to a particular teacher and stay there for the day. The class is about 15 minutes of lecturing and then the students break off into small groups to work individually with students based on what the teacher just taught.
